To what extent are we moving in the consciousness of the love of Christ, and under the impulse of it? We sometimes take the letter of the truth, right as it is in its place, and surround ourselves with it and repeat this part and that part, and it brings a challenge to us. But is there a golden thread of love for Christ running through as we do that? Or are we motivated, do we get impulse from something else? Do we want just a conformity to something? Love for Christ would not be satisfied with just a conformity. What is precious to Christ will be the acceptance of His commandments, as He said Himself, significantly, in John 14: 15, "If ye love me, keep my commandments." But let it be, as that scripture suggests, the result of active, constantly active, affection for Him. Many of the matters that come in amongst us really raise with us the simple question, 'Do I love Christ?'.
