ENQUIRING CHILDREN

A time came in the life of Abraham when he was tested as to his obedience to Jehovah. God required that he should take his own son, Isaac, and offer him as a burnt-offering. They two therefore began their journey, taking no sheep with them, and Isaac understandably asked his father "Where is the sheep for a burnt-offering". They did, however, find a ram, caught in the thicket and an offering was made of this. The believer in the atoning work of Jesus and the shedding of His blood knows that they give full safety, and he does not come into judgment.

A girl named Miriam was at the right place and at the right time to be of use to God. She asked to be helpful to her little baby brother. What his earlier name was we do not know but he became called "Moses" which means 'Drawn out' because he was found among the sedges of the river. In process of time Moses grew up to serve in connection with the tabernacle system which required that the Hebrew children should ask about the Passover. For the young this became a sign of the shedding of the precious blood of Jesus as of a lamb without blemish or spot.
