“THEY SHALL COMFORT YOU” Ezekiel 14 speaks of Jehovah’s ways in judgment because of the sin of Israel, but the chapter concludes, “But behold, there shall be left in it those that escape, who shall be brought out of it, sons and daughters ... and ye shall see their way and their doings; and ye shall be comforted … And they shall comfort you”. One of the greatest privileges open to us is to seek to be a comfort to the people of God. There have been times of great pressure and humiliation, but what is to come out of them? May it be sons and daughters whose ways and doings bring comfort and joy to the saints! We have the Holy Spirit, one of whose titles is Comforter. He would fully furnish us to render service of that kind to one another.
EACH IN HIS ORBIT An interesting event occurred early this year when one of the smallest planets in the solar system came unusually near to the earth. It is a piece of rock about ten miles long—just a speck compared with some of the vast orbs in the heavens. But it has its own
orbit around the sun, and its, position at any moment can be exactly calculated. Is this not a picture of the spiritual system? We may think ourselves so small, so insignificant, but each believer has his direct link with Christ the Centre. Each is to be governed in his movements by the constraining power of the love of Christ (see 2 Corinthians 5; 14, 15) and by the principles which He has taught us. Thus we shall be in harmony with those who are truly subject to Him. Let us allow no wrong principle or influence to draw us out of our true and safe orbit in relation to our Lord Jesus Christ.
