JOHN 11
Miss C. M. Pyper1
Oh, Jesus precious Saviour
We see Thee standing there,
With mourning ones around Thee,
Their sorrow Thou would’st share.
It fills our hearts with gladness
To know, midst sorrow deep,
Thou blessed Saviour, Jesus,
Would’st with us even weep.
Thou groanedst, then assured them
If only they’d believe
God’s glory would be shown them,
Their brother they’d receive.
Then Jesus, ever humble,
Did lift His eyes on high,
To thank His loving Father
For having heard His cry.
Then loudly He commanded
The loved one to come out,
His word and presence holy
The power of death did rout.
We know that now our, loved ones
Are present with the Lord;
Such knowledge by the Spirit
Great comfort doth afford.
And thus Thine own compassion
Most blessed Lord we’d claim,
For only Thou canst give us
What takes away all pain.
Thus Lord we would be waiting
E’en here to learn Thy mind,
Patient, Thy will fulfilling,
And balm in sorrow find.

‘The Believer’s Privilege’
This poem was reproduced in the April issue from a document which attributed it to Mr. J. N. Darby. We are grateful to those who have since told us that they have copies of the verses—and confirmed that they are by J.N.D. A line was missing from the latter part of our copy, making the following couplet—
With Thee by faith I walk in crowds alone,
Making to Thee my wants and wishes known.
