BLESSED IN LIGHT
D. R. Freeman
Our portion will ever be in light, which characterises the presence of God who is light and in whom is no darkness at all (1 John 1: 5). The Lord Jesus was light in a dark world and it is by the Spirit that light is maintained here now. Light has ever marked the operations of God who brought it in creatorially and then amongst His people. When Egypt was in darkness, the Israelites had “light in their dwellings” (Exodus 10: 23). There
was light continually linked with the tabernacle, both from the lamps within and from the fire without by night.
We have been brought into the light as it shone in Jesus. Our fellowship is in it. We are responsible to walk in the light, and any element of darkness with ourselves can be met because “the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin”, 1 John 1: 7. In the heavenly city there is no night—the portion of the redeemed is ever in light, both now and eternally. We have been delivered from the authority of darkness and brought into Christ’s blessed kingdom (Colossians 1: 12, 13) of which He is the glorious Sun.
