(Extract from a letter from the late Geo Eade, of Brisbane, to S.J.B.C.).
I well remember, many years ago, that a deep impression was made upon my heart when privileged to be present at a large Reading Meeting of well-known brethren, including the late J.N.D., who soon afterwards entered upon his well-earned rest. The subject before us had been the Melchisedek priesthood, and many deep and precious thoughts were brought out about it, much of which I have forgotten. But one thing I have never let slip. At the close of the meeting Mr Darby, who had said very little all through, remarked: "Brethren we have heard and enjoyed many blessed and profound things this afternoon, but some of us who are getting old find the simplest truths are becoming the sweetest. Perhaps some of us may soon be on a deathbed, and then we may feel how precious it is to pillow the soul on some simple scripture such as, 'The Blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin'. I have studied and loved many scriptures and I value all, but if I die, let me rest my soul, my eternity, on this one - on the precious blood".
