Yet God interposed for Israel more conspicuously than ever immediately afterwards where Gibeon’s alliance drew on it a combined attack of five kings of the Amorites. “And there was no day like that before it or after it, that Jehovah hearkened unto the voice of a man: for Jehovah fought for Israel,” verse 14. And many other kings did Joshua smite utterly as the Jehovah God of Israel commanded, returning regularly to Gilgal to encamp, the place of circumcision, that no flesh should glory but he that glorieth should glory only in Jehovah.
