CHILDREN BLESSED

Scripture is rich with blessings, both from God and also towards Him. For ourselves the word means to be made happy by receiving something from His hand. Even the fields around us partake of divine blessing when they drink in the rain and yield useful plants. There are blessings which come and cease but those which God gives to the believer in the Lord Jesus are for eternity as well as for time.

Although there is always blessing in thinking about Jesus we must remember that He is now in the glory into which He has ascended up. Luke's gospel says that He was "carried up into heaven" as He was blessing His apostles, and now sits at the right hand of God. The exercise of faith on our part and the service of the Holy Spirit are therefore necessary to the receiving of these heavenly blessings.

Jesus welcomed the little children and blessed them, taking them into His arms - one of the fifteen or so parts of the Lord's holy body mentioned in the New Testament; can you find them? One great blessing that even the littlest ones have is to know God as Father who cares for them and watches over them. Timothy, from boyhood, had known the sacred letters which, by faith in Christ Jesus, were salvation to him and were enough to make him a man of God when he grew up. Do you, too, read and learn the Scriptures?
