THE CHILDREN'S JOURNEYS
The Lord Jesus spoke of the way that leads to life and believing children as well as grown-up persons should be travelling in it. The meaning is that we are led into life now and not just that life is at the end of it. In describing his conversion Paul called it 'this way' because he was now in it with those whom he had before persecuted. It was like a wolf being led along with lambs, which will actually happen in the thousand years of the reign of Christ over the earth, and even a little child shall lead them!
Nowadays, whilst the Lord Jesus is not wanted by many people in this world, we need even more to be led in the right way. The Lord said that the Holy Spirit would guide the disciples and this is even better than being told the way. Indeed, in no other manner than this can we complete our journey of life and do even the ordinary things such as eating and drinking to the glory of God.
Do you know that the Bible speaks about sign-posts? Perhaps some young people have experienced getting lost and looking anxiously for the right road. In the Christian way one sign-post points to 'repentance', another to 'faith' and another to 'confession'. The same scripture speaks of waymarks which we put up at places we have reached with the Lord's help. Some of these are 'obedience', 'salvation' and 'thanksgiving', but perhaps the most important is the gift of the Holy Spirit who takes up his abode in the obedient believer. Have you received Him into your own heart yet?
