“I AM COMING TO YOU”, JOHN 14: 18
A. J. Gaskin
Jesus our Lord, ‘tis the joy of Thy presence
Calls forth response to Thy love from our hearts;
Thy name as ointment poured forth in its fragrance
Now to Thy lovers its sweetness imparts.
For Thou hast come to us, Lord, in Thy glory,
Thou mighty Victor all praises above,
Bowing our souls in true homage before Thee,
Filling our hearts with the warmth of Thy love.
Lord, in Thy manhood, as risen, victorious,
Thou our affections so wholly hast won,
Yet in Thy Person divine and so glorious
Thee we would worship as God’s blessed Son.
Fruit of Thy death for Thy heart’s satisfaction,
Of Thee and like Thee. Thy heavenly bride
Gladly responds to Thine own love’s attraction,
Suited companion to be at Thy side.
So now, blest Lord, we are joyfully giving
To Thee love’s answer, Thine own treasured part;
Worthy art Thou as exalted and living
Of all that meets the desires of Thy heart.
