SATISFIED CHILDREN

There must have been some children amongst the company of five thousand persons who came to Jesus in the hill-country about 100 miles from Jerusalem. There was at least a little boy who had a few loaves and some fishes, which the Lord, by a miracle, caused to satisfy the needs of all the people who were gathered there and who were by this time very hungry. Actually twelve hand-baskets of fragments were gathered up for needs elsewhere. It was the same Lord Jesus who used Paul, meaning 'little', to satisfy with his ministry a vast number of believers in the truth.

The life of faith must be maintained by food, and the familiar word 'bread' is often used in the Bible. Possibly there are more varieties of it in the Scriptures than we have for our daily needs. For instance there is the manna in the wilderness which was called the "bread of the mighty". As the "bread of God", Jesus had come down out of heaven, available to the whole world. He is also the "living bread" and the "true bread". It is one of the very many promises in the Bible that by feeding on ''the bread of life" the believer will never suffer hunger.
