ACTIVE CHILDREN
We used to hear a saying that 'Children should be seen and not heard'. This is not in Scripture, indeed there are some passages in the Word where children have been essential to the testimony of God and have been of real assistance in His works. Samuel, for instance, learned to serve as a priest when very young, and his regular task at first was to open the doors of the temple so that persons could come and worship there. When he was still quite young he was thought mature enough to be entrusted with a message of judgment to the Lord's beloved but unresponsive people. God "let none of his words fall to the ground."
We have in the Bible a short but precious account of the birth of John, later called 'the Baptist'. When growing up he was rightly concerned about the state of God's people, and he called upon those who were like-minded to undergo baptism in the water. His name means 'Jehovah is gracious'. Many persons were converted through his ministry and he was a prophet announcing the coming of the Lord Jesus.
Do you enquire about your baptism?
