Lord Jesus, mighty Son of God,

MUSINGS

“CHRIST LIVES IN ME” Everything for the believer is established “in Christ” and “in Christ Jesus”; then there is another rich line of thought relating to what Paul speaks of as “the riches of the glory of this mystery among the nations, which is Christ in you the hope of glory”—

Christ in you. It is Christ enshrined in the mind and the affections; He dwells there. In Galatians 2: 20 Paul says, “I am crucified with Christ, and no longer live, I, but Christ lives in me”. That is a very active thought, lives in me. It implies that the power of Christ’s life is operating in the believer. Clearly, if Christ thus takes up His abode all must be subject to Him. He must be in supreme control, all the reins of our life must now be in His hand. This must have powerful and manifest results. If Christ is dwelling in the seat of our affections, thoughts, and motives, then He will be expressed in our spirits and actions. What a fine thing that is, that the character and ugliness of the old ‘ I’ are no longer in evidence; instead the precious features of Christ are shining out. Mr. Darby described it as ‘The living display of what Christ is before men’, adding, ‘We should never be content when we fail to display Christ before men’ (‘Coll. Wrtgs.’, Vol. 12, p392).

May we be greatly exercised that the reality of this may increasingly work out in us.
