Father! Thy sovereign love has framed

This holy sphere surrounding Thee;

The sphere sustained by Christ, Thy Son,

In love, in rest, perpetually!

He Thy delight—beloved One,

Thy peerless Son! Known but to Thee,

“Lord Jesus Christ”! His name to us

We hear, we praise, eternally!

Father! Thy voice, heard on the mount,

“Hear Him” (our joy was then begun),

His “brethren” in th’ eternal sphere

Hear none save Thy beloved Son!
