MUSINGS

I AM A VOICE’—When John was approached flatteringly by the Jews—“Art thou Elias? …

Art thou the prophet?”, his simple answer was, “No … I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness. Make straight the path of the Lord”, John 1: 22, 23. It was not only what John said; his whole manner of life was a voice, calling attention to Jesus, making way for Him, and showing that John thought so little of himself and so much of Christ; as he said, “He must increase, but I must decrease”, John 3; 30. Each of our lives has a voice. Our habits, our interests, our dress, our speech, all have a voice. They proclaim either that I have myself before me, or that, like John, I prefer Christ. Let our whole manner of life be such as to show that we are lovers of Jesus. Thus He will be drawn attention to.
