“MY BELOVED SON”

Upon the holy mount apart

Was seen, revealed to human gaze,

The Object of the Father’s heart,

The Son, unique, beyond all praise.

 

O glorious Man in whom now rest

God’s purposes and counsels blest,

Himself the Yea and the Amen

To all God’s promises for men.

 

And, greater still, unveiled we see

God’s thoughts from all eternity

To head up all in Him, the Son,

Marked out as His beloved One.

 

No single purpose of God’s will

But Christ shall gloriously fulfil

Full actuality to come,

But all assured in that blest One.

 

The richest thoughts of love divine

Now in resplendent glory shine—

Christ’s brethren, and His heavenly bride,

Israel restored and glorified.

 

The nations blest and in their place,

A universe secured through grace;

Annulled for ever death’s dark thrall,

New heaven and earth, God all in all.
