VALUABLE CHILDREN
In Scripture we read of children whom God valued because they could be part of the working out of His ways. For instance, even as a babe, Moses was named 'Fair to God' which would mean that his part in so great a work was already foreseen by heaven. A thing that parents think of in faith at a household baptism is that their child may be in time converted and become useful to the Lord. It is something like the boy Samuel being lent to Jehovah all his life. It was in the heart of his mother to give him, but, very tenderly, God allowed her to continue calling him her son. The Lord Jesus once used a little child to teach the twelve apostles. He first set the child in the midst of them and then took it into His arms. Thus, He became not only a Teacher but also an affectionate Shepherd. In another gospel account Jesus called the child to Himself.
