NEITHER WAS THERE GUILE IN HIS MOUTH

John 1:46 (from ‘Philip’),47; Isaiah 53:9;

Psalm 4:3 (to ‘himself’)

When we heard that the Lord had taken our brother to be with Himself, this verse in John 1 was very feelingly with me, “Behold one truly an Israelite, in whom there is no guile”. I have known our brother for over fifty years, and one of the two features that we noticed was that he was without guile. He was also marked by piety.

I do not want to say much, but leave the scriptures with the brethren, because we see these features supremely in our Lord Jesus; “neither was there guile in his mouth”, 1 Pet.2:22. We are living in a world where guile is apparent on every side, but our brother had these features of piety and being guileless, and my feeling was that the Lord might encourage us. The ranks need filling up, and they need filling up by persons who have these two features of being guileless and being marked by piety.

May the Lord bless the word.
