RIGHTEOUSNESS

Righteousness first—what a test it will be

As I travel the highway of life;

What a challenge to do all things unto the Lord

‘Midst the gathering darkness and strife.

Righteousness first in my dealings with men,

In trials and many temptations,

For all now must be clear, with no shady spot left,

In actions and all my relations.

Righteousness first, it can only be so

If I seek to be here for God’s will;

When the battle is raging for right against wrong

May the Spirit be guiding me still.

Righteousness first—just a little while left,

For the coming of Jesus is soon,

And then when I see Him Oh what joy it will be

Then to hear His blest voice say, “Well done”.

Correction—In the first ‘Extract’ on p.23 of the April 1986 issue, line 3, the reference should have been to Philippians 4: 8, 9.
