PLAYING CHILDREN
When God gives to the Jews, His earthly people, a time of rejoicing known as the Millennium, there will then be much joy amongst the young people and indeed on all others. The children will then be able to play their games in the streets in safety. In the time when Jesus was on earth they played a kind of mimicry game. It was not being played properly by some and the others said to them "We have piped to you and ye have not danced, we have mourned to you and ye have now wailed". How wonderful it is that the Lord Jesus should see these and use them in His teaching.
In the long conversations of the Almighty with Job mention was made of a creature called a behemoth. It was a kind of hippopotamus and it ate grass like an ox. It dwelt in the hilly ground "where all the beasts of the field play", probably amongst the lotus bushes. Another playful animal in Job's day was the leviathan; a kind of crocodile regarding which Job was asked whether he could play with this animal "as with a bird!".
Sad it is that, as Luke writes of the time of the cross of Jesus, the soldiers made game of our Saviour, so humble. There were seven occasions during the crucifixion time of our Lord when it is mentioned that He was 'led' by various persons. Can you trace them?
