“COME, LORD JESUS”
R. S. Renton
Lord Jesus we adore Thee,
Thy perfect love we know,
Thyself our precious Object,
Which sets our souls aglow.
As things around are dark’ning,
Thy glory lights the way,
Light going on and bright’ning,
Until Thy glorious day—
The time of manifestation,
Thy glory then being shown,
Thy public vindication
Where men did Thee disown.
Twill be a time of reigning,
Thyself the glorious King,
Thy saints, too, reigning with Thee,
As all their tribute bring.
The heavenly hosts unnumbered
Thy worthiness proclaim,
As saints join in the chorus
To Thee the Lamb once slain.
May it be soon, Lord Jesus;
We with the Spirit say,
‘Amen; so come, Lord Jesus,
Take universal sway’.
