WALKING ON THE SEA
R. S. Renton
Walking on the sea to go to Jesus,
Overcoming circumstances here,
Strong winds oft prevail to make us fearful,
Glad we are to know that He is near.
Walking on the sea to go to Jesus,
Keeping Him the Object of the heart,
Satan seeks to mock and to distract us
And to rob us of our heav’nly part.
Walking on the sea to go to Jesus,
Love for Him alone can keep secure,
Winds and waves or storms shall ne’er deter us
As through Him our faith is steadfast, sure.
Walking on the sea to go to Jesus,
He above to care for us below.
Succour and support His priestly function,
Giving us His loving grace to know.
Walking on the sea to go to Jesus,
Hear Him clearly with affection say,
‘Courage take, ‘tis I, be not disquieted;
I am near to be thy strength and stay’.
