^{, 4 & 6} John 1: 1-3 teaches as to the eternal divine nature and glory of the Word - it is the foundation of Scripture. John 1: 14-18 presents a relationship in which the Word, the Son of God, is seen as becoming flesh. He took “a bondman’s form” and was “found in figure as a man” (Phil 2: 7, 8): “God has been manifested in flesh” (1 Tim 3: 16), that is in that form and condition. (page 95)
