MUSINGS
“EVERY PRECIOUS STONE” The poem in this issue is a comforting reminder of the glorious, eternal future which will crown the path of faith, and of the precious formation which is being worked out now in every experience through which we pass, as we go through it with God. Yet it is very exercising, and would give us concern that we may spend our days with that day before us. Let our prime concern be that day by day what is heavenly and spiritual may be formed in us, because that, and only that, will go through to the day of display and to eternity. Even the tests and pressures of everyday life will, as we are, with the Lord, form something in us—the result of His company. And all that is so formed will shine in the holy city—“every precious stone”. The work of God in each will then be displayed. So let me not waste time on what will produce nothing of eternal worth. Now is the time when the treasure is being formed, and through exercise on our part its formation can be furthered.
