MUSINGS
TRAVEL LIKE THE BEE Travel is becoming more and more common. Young people can visit places which their parents had little opportunity of going to when they were young.
While this can be a blessing, it is also quite a responsibility. As loving the Lord we would want everything we do to be related to Him and His people. If we go to visit some other place we represent something in our spirit, outlook, and manner of life. That will have either a good or an adverse effect on those we visit. So it is something we should ask ourselves—What do we represent? There will be something positive and helpful to those we meet if there is some expression in us of a normal Christian life and walk. But if we express what is just natural, earthly, or worldly—or what is half-hearted in committal—then the effect will be unhelpful or damaging.
Let us travel as the bee does. His business is to go from flower to flower. At each he gathers pollen and nectar to take back to the hive for use as food. At the same time at each ‘call’ some of the pollen rubs off to fertilise the flower. May our visits be of that kind—to draw on the spiritual wealth which is in the saints, and also that something may ‘rub off’ for the cheer and blessing of others. Then our journeys will really be worthwhile—pleasing to the Lord, profitable to the saints, and certainly enjoyable to us.
