‘‘TIS I – BE NOT AFRAID’ (Mark 6: 45-51)

Dear child of God, tossed by the stormy billows,

Toiling and rowing on life’s troubled sea;

Look up and trust, thy Saviour knows thy weakness,

Upon the mountain top He prays for thee.

At God’s right hand, in highest glory seated,

For thee, poor needy one, He intercedes;

Fear not, the angry waves shall not o’erwhelm thee,

They cannot harm the one for whom He pleads.

He sees thy plight, and though thy faith should falter, He draweth near, He cometh to thine aid,

Speaks to thy heart in words of sweetest comfort—

“Be of good cheer, ‘tis I—be not afraid”.

And lo! His presence calms the storm and tempest,

Brings an abiding peace—in Him confide,

Rest in His love—His faithful love and wisdom,

To His own rest He shall thee safely guide.
