Are there trials day by day?

Do you think you’d please Him better

If He’d led some other way?

Or His features more would gain?

Oh the love, the skill, the wisdom

Of the One who placed you there,

He has perfect understanding,

Knowing all that you can bear.

In this sin-marred scene of sorrow

Love could never let us rest;

Take your circumstances from Him

And you’ll prove that they are best.

Much pressure entered into the life of the author of these lines. After the death of his wife an illness left him completely helpless and he spent some years in hospital in that condition until the Lord took him in 1959.
