EXTRACTS

How often do we see links with the world formed, or links with believers not walking in the truth, either by marriage or friendship, or by association for mutual advantage, sometimes even by joining in worldly pleasures, or by the reading of worldly literature! If these things go on, “the holy seed” does not preserve its own distinctiveness and separation, and the consequences are spiritually disastrous. For these things being carried on are clear evidence of unfaithfulness to the Lord.

C. A. Coates (‘Outline of Mark’s Gospel’, p.242)

Because of my infirmity I require His grace and mercy where I am. He is able to help me for He was once here; but He is above everything now and He would have me to know Him where there are no winds and waves and to enjoy Him there. May each of us answer to His love more and more as we apprehend by the Spirit what it is to be with Him where He is, and to set our affections there!

J. B. Stoney (N.S. Vol. 8, p.149)

I think we should benefit those we come in contact with very much more, because out of my belly should flow living waters. It ought to be an exercise to everybody that he should be in this world beneficially, he ought not to stagnate. There is something for everyone to do—a man may show mercy with cheerfulness.

F. E. Raven (N.S. Vol. 14, p.102)
