THE BRIDEGROOM
A. C. Craig
Jesus will come alone,
Into the air descending,
No angel hosts attending,
To take us home.
Jesus will come alone,
His promised tryst now keeping;
Love’s harvest in the reaping
Of all His own.
Jesus will come alone,
With none the moment sharing,
As rightful Bridegroom claiming
His flesh and bone.
Jesus will come alone,
Himself the advent speeding,
Enraptured people greeting
The coming One.
Jesus will come alone,
Not like the great appearing,
When with His saints unveiling
His glorious throne.
Jesus will come alone,
God’s purpose then fulfilling,
“It is not good”, the saying,
‘The Man alone’.
No longer now alone,
For ever with Him being,
His glory ever seeing,
For ever one!
