MUSINGS
UNDER HIS EYE In the early months of last year there was just one snowdrop in my garden.
This year there were two, and their delicately hanging white flowers were a welcome promise of spring. Now I know some gardens have many more. I saw one which was like a carpet of snowdrops and aconites. But I think my two snowdrops gave me almost as much pleasure as the owner of that garden had.
This simple illustration in nature gave one an impression of the delight the Lord has in His lonely ones, standing each in his or her own beauty where He has set them for His pleasure.
Are you in circumstances of loneliness? The Lord’s eye is upon you in love and approval as you seek to be
there for Him. If no other eye appreciates the beauty of His own work, He values it fully. As it stands in its own unearthly purity it is ever cherished in His view. Indeed, whatever our setting—and many have the joy of company and fellowship—He who owns the garden and delights in all its beauty, still holds each one as precious and distinctive. May we hold ourselves day by day for His pleasure and grow up to Him in all things (Ephesians 4: 15).
