And while they crowded in on that great day
At Pentecost,
There still was room for others far away
In darkness lost.
The ways and fences of the nations still
Are searched, the house with many souls to fill.
Compel them in! Both power and love combine
The house to fill.
Oh hasten, yield the claims of Him divine
Awaiting still.
For ‘tis no common servant waits your choice,
‘Tis the blest Spirit—heed His heavenly voice.
The Servant had returned before to say
There still was room,
But goes once more into the distant way
To bring them in.
Nor yet has He returned—thy chance remains,
But only holds so long as He detains.
But yet, who knows the time when this will cease?
The offer done!
The last seat taken at the royal feast,
No empty one.
And you declined the invitation given;
Outside you must remain the bliss of heaven.
