EXTRACTS
The disciples, in dispensing the food (Luke 9), were to be representative of Christ. It is a sobering thought that in all service among the saints I am to be personally representative of Christ. What a character it would give to the service! I am not to serve because I know a thing or two, but as personally representative of Christ in His feeding activities towards His saints.
Our service would be more effective if we were more like Him—no other service is worth anything.
C. A. Coates (‘Outline of Luke’s Gospel’, p.118)
As one gets older and reviews one’s past actions one realises that they were more offensive to God than the believer judged them to be at the time of committal. As we walk with God our sense of holiness and corresponding judgment of sin increases.
