‘Whatever He says to you, do’,

This word freshly comes to us now,

A word to us never more true,

Our hearts to its truth humbly bow.

Thou knowest our hearts, blessed Lord,

To please Thee our object in life,

Thy mind comes to us through Thy word,

Preserve us from doubting and strife.

Thy love to us gives the desire

To walk here as faithful to Thee,

Obedience to Thee we require,

To help us Thy glories to see.

Whate’er Thou dost ask us to do,

As subject, dependent on Thee,

Thy Spirit will carry us through

Whatever the cost to us be.

Lord Jesus, our hearts Thee acclaim,

And we in Thy service would be;

We readily publish Thy fame,

All honour and praise be to Thee.

Our service for Thee soon shall cease,

Our pilgrimage here soon be o’er,

What happy and blessed release,

To live just to praise evermore.

To be in Thy presence and see

The Man of God’s purpose and joy,

From sin and confusion all free

Adoration our constant employ.
