shine. That is why the Lord says to John, “Fear not”. We have the Spirit too; “greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world”, 1 John 4:4. The power and greatness of divine Persons are for all believers, beloved brethren. It is encouraging that the Lord Jesus could say to John, “I became dead, and behold, I am living to the ages of ages, and have the keys of death and of hades”. It is a wonderful thing that He is living to the “ages of ages” and, as has been said, He is about to come for all His own. It is encouraging to lay hold of this fact as John was reassured of it. Then he was given this revelation, not only the Lord’s words to the seven assemblies but a door opened in heaven and John saw what was to come. As believers, we are to be in the light of all that.

Then the greatest thing is that “I am the first and the last, and the living one: and I became dead”. It is the glory of the One who is, in His own Person, the great “I AM”, but He is a Man who is near to us and reassures us in every way so that we need not fear, and that His right hand is upon us. May we all be encouraged, for His name’s sake.
