down in perpetuity, and He is “waiting from henceforth until his enemies be set for the footstool of his feet”. As the Lord Jesus is there and as you see Him there by the eyes of faith, then you can have assurance because He is your righteousness. Do you acknowledge that, dear saved sinner? God is not looking for righteousness from you, He has provided it in the finished work of Christ, and Christ is there on high as your righteousness. Your salvation is assured because of His place at God’s right hand.

How great these things are. I am impressed by the greatness of God’s thoughts in the glad tidings and how extensive they are. No one is outside the scope of God’s appeal. The work is great enough, but you must come in repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus, and own that the One who has accomplished your salvation is the One to whom every knee will bow. May we bow the knee to Jesus now as repentant sinners and find the peace and joy in believing in Him, for His name’s sake.
