PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE

I have. been meditating on the past, present and future with respect to the Lord. The past embraces His finished ^[p. 49] work, which we can never lose sight of, but the present is in connection with the Holy Ghost come down from Him glorified. So that we not only know Him as He was but it is the great delight of His love that we should know Him as He is. In fact, the desire of His heart is, that we should be as united to Him sharing in His present interests, He dwelling in our hearts by faith. Therefore everything in the future as it relates to Him is a matter of deep interest to us, whether it be the decline of the church, or the course of the apostasy. We can be so in heart in concert with Him that with the Spirit (the Spirit and the bride), we say, Come!

At all times His interests must be the paramount interest of our hearts. He takes care of the smallest detail about us, but His heart desires that His interests might be the commanding object with us.
