here, I mean within responsible years, too young to confess
Jesus Christ as Lord, and the earlier you begin to do it the
better. So I would appeal simply to you to begin to confess
Jesus Christ as your Lord. It is what brings about change in a
person. The kind of change that God is looking for in us comes
about by the confession of Jesus Christ as our Lord, and as
we are subject, submissive, and obedient, then God gives us
His Holy Spirit.
What a very great blessing is the reception of the Holy Spirit!
As we receive the Holy Spirit He sheds abroad the love of God
in our hearts. How wonderful that is! Think of the Spirit, in His
first service to us, shedding abroad the love of God in our
hearts. You may say, Why does He do that? I will tell you why
He does it; He does it in order to possess your heart for God.
That is how God possesses our hearts for Himself, by filling
them. How wonderful that is!
Well, when we come to 2 Corinthians 4 Paul again speaks of
our hearts, he speaks about “the God who spoke that out of
darkness light should shine”. These are wonderful statements.
Young brothers and sisters, I would like again to speak to you
as to the Scriptures, the value of the Scriptures, and the value
of reading them. There is nothing more wonderful as far as
reading material is concerned than the Scriptures. I would
appeal to you to take up the Scriptures in an exercised way
and read them, and seek God’s help in reading them. When
Paul wrote to Timothy he spoke about
the sacred letters, he spoke about the Scriptures, and how a
man of God is fully furnished by them (see 2 Timothy 3: 15).
You say, Well, I read other things. Well, you do not need other
things. I am not discounting ministry that is based on the
Scriptures, but other reading material you can well do without.
