CHARTING A COURSE
I. L. Gray
The time is now upon us all
For each to make a stand—
The Lord of glory, or this world?
The choice is in our hand.
Ah, Lord, the time is short indeed
Of man’s allotted span;
His life a passing vapour is,
Appearing ‘neath Thy hand.
This world and all it can afford,
Empty, and void of light,
From sorrow unto sorrow leads,
On to eternal night.
Our daily toil is not our life,
It fills our days—Till when?
Merely to pass the time away,
Or till He comes again?
Oh, let us lay up heavenly wealth—
Garden and home can wait—
Temporal things that now ensnare
Count not at heaven’s gate.
Lord Jesus, King of glory Thou;
I am Thy servant now,
To serve Thee here till Thou dost come;
To Thy blest will I bow.
