AUGUST 4TH, 1931

MY DEAR —, — ... I quite agree with you that local exercises in regard to such meetings are apt to be too casual and indefinite, and not sufficiently the product of serious and [p. 202] continued waiting on the Lord that He may give what is distinctively of Himself. It seems to me that those who propose the Scripture or subject should have some sense of responsibility to carry the thing through, and have faith in the Lord that He will support them in so doing. If this were accepted as being of God, which I believe it is, it would make the suggestion of a Scripture a more serious responsibility, and lead to more prayer about it. However, it is a comfort to know and prove that the Lord, in His unfailing love and care for His own, is above all our infirmities, and turns things about in His wisdom for good....

Yours very affectionately,

August 4th, 1931.
