^[p. 343] MY DEAR —, — ... I often recall with pleasure my visit to —, and I have been sorry to hear how very reduced in number they are now. Indeed, it is a time of changes everywhere, but the love of God has given us a portion in Christ which does not change save that it becomes sweeter, and affords fuller joy, as we go on in the Spirit.

... We are losing some of our number here by removal, and several have departed to be with Christ. So that we are likely to be reduced in number, but if this results in deeper dependence it may work out for good....
