Hymn 198 — Lord Jesus, as gathered before Thee
| 198 | L. J. GILMORE | 9.8.9.8.9.8.9.8. |
| 1 |
Lord Jesus, as gathered before Thee Our thoughts and our hearts would combine To guard Thy great interests so holy, The glory and fame that are Thine: Thy guidance and help we are needing, Our words by the Spirit controlled, And thus we would now be proceeding -- O come, let Thy mind here unfold!

The darkness around we are feeling, The love of the many grown cold, O Lord, let Thy light, pure, revealing, Shine forth as the truth now is told. Thou art in th'assembly confiding, Her wifely affections so pure -- May we be found faithful, abiding In Thee, suff'rings here to endure!

O Lord, grant the power of discernment, Dividing 'twixt darkness and light, Refusing with holy resentment Whatever may challenge Thy right. Thus faithfully would we be caring, Whilst Thou from this world art away, Until on Thy throne we are sharing In headship in Thy coming day.
