SURRENDER
SURRENDER
There is comparatively very little surrender for the Lord’s sake in this day. It was, I might say, the characteristic of the brethren at the beginning. With the prospect of the great consummation to which we are called, the [p. 467] marvel is that anything could divert us from it. The prospect to Rebecca was that she was to be conducted to Isaac; the consummation of it was when she came to him. This is the type of our calling, but infinitely greater is ours, and to be known now while we are in this dreary land. May you enjoy it more and more; the prospect attracts you, the completion of it satisfies you.
Nothing satisfies love but company. I believe this is the character of “first love”, that everything is sacrificed for company, and you are declining when anything is allowed to divert you from company with Christ.
Keep to first love and you will be greatly blessed. Love will do what intelligence cannot do.
