THE MIND OCCUPIED WITH CHRIST
THE MIND OCCUPIED WITH CHRIST
Thinking of Christ is better than doing anything, for, as you think of Him, you will do what will suit His mind. Avoid a very common error towards anyone you love; that is, thinking they must like the attention that you think suited to them, and not sufficiently consulting their own mind and feelings. This was just the difference between Martha and Mary (Luke 10); and much activity of affection is spent in vain, because of this want of diligently ascertaining what the one I desire likes me to do. It is the singularity and adaptability of love’s attentions which captivate and obtain a response.
True affection is fully seen in the Lord, and ours if not traceable to Him, and a counterpart of this, is not true. He seeks my benefit even when I do not recognise Him, and He never foregoes it for any momentary gratification or even for my approval of Him. He knows that when I feel His love I must worship and admire Him.
The Lord bless you, and teach you to find resource in His ever-suited love!
