EVERYTHING NATURAL LEFT BEHIND

EVERYTHING NATURAL LEFT BEHIND

“We which live are alway delivered unto death” Death can be truly learned only as we live. “Death works in us, but life in you” (2 Corinthians 4: 11, 12). It is remarkable to me to see how each one has to learn death in a different way. When in spirit we realise that we have died and [p. 498] risen with Christ, that we are over Jordan, even for a moment, we have the sense that everything natural is left behind. There is no barrier, nothing holding us to this scene; every tie is loosened, and we are in the sense of the unclouded bliss of the heavenly places.

This is our true state or position spiritually, and hence the more true we are the more we shall be practically severed by actual death from every barrier and tie that would hold us in this scene. I say this to cheer you, in order that you may address yourself to the journey with a deeper joy in the Lord, and with a more positive purpose to forget the things that are behind.

The Lord sympathises with us that we may be drawn to Him. He makes up to us for every blank. Thus He blessedly endears Himself to us.

He sympathised with Mary. He walked beside her all the way to the raising of Lazarus. He continues this sympathy through the entire journey. Blessed be His name!
